Hire Faster Than Ever Before!
I am not sure if this is really a trick or not; maybe its just good information to try. When you need to hire some poor chum to work your farm, all the clicking can seem outrageous. What about just double-clicking their feet? From what I can tell this only works if you first enter the market and keep the camera zoom at default. You may get mixed results otherwise.
Let’s looks at the red arrow first. If you double click on their dirty work boots this will automatically hire them for harvesting. Your mouse arrow will be perfectly aligned on the the sub-menu to hire them for harvesting. Double-clicking on the Farmers name will automatically hire them for plowing.
Just a nice little trick to not have to keep moving your mouse all over to find what you want to hire them for. Wow! What a stream line method of hiring! This will save our farmers 5ms from moving there mouse! Try it and let us know what you think!
Buy Junk, Sell Junk and Level!
Farmer’s – listen to this! By buying things, you get XP! There you go. Want to level fast? Buy tons of stuff and sell it. By far the cheapest item with a decent experience gained is the Hay Bale. Look at the chart – 10%. Yes, you can literally buy experience points. Spend 50 coins on a single hay bale and sell it over and over again and soon enough you will level. Who cares? Even get a program to setup automated macros to do it for you while you are AFK. We won’t post how to do it here because it may be considered cheating but this could easily get you to buying a mansion faster than you would think. Buy Hay Bale, Sell Hay Bale, gain XP, level, what more do you want? Another method would be plow, delete plowed field, plow again. This gives a 5% return on XP. Plowing a single field costs $20 in return you will receive 1xp.
*We may approve comments that contain step by step instruction on proven ways to setup automated tasks to accomplish these goals.
Have fun and good luck.

Help! What Should I plant?!?
We get so many questions a day about this game. Here is yet another answer. Unreal! It’s a game, just play however you want to play and have fun doing it! They reply by saying “We want to level fast so we can buy a big expensive mansion”. I hope you know at level 34 you can finally buy a mansion. However, shortly after you buy the mansion it is worth well under 50% than what you bought it for. I have to warn these farmers that economy isn’t what it used to be. Real Estate once being a perfect investment is not anymore. However, we threw together this chart to give you a better idea what profits are found where. It all boils down to how much time a day you have to plant and plow those crops. Here is another reminder. Experience is tied to each plow and plant. The more you work, the more experience you get – the more experience you get, the faster you will level. Have fun and hope this helps.
Here is another really helpful spreadsheet to review. There is a ton of information if you use the tabs at the top of the sheet.

Farm Town Speed: it’s NOT a Drug.
Welcome back my Farm Town junkies. Yeah, that’s right, I have met more drug addicts that were less addicted to heroine than Facebook users are to Farm Town. So today we are bringing our little addict friends the Speed of Farm Town. These tips will help you move faster than ever before! (In a non-health threatening way of course.)
HOW PLOW BROWN COW?
Ever thought of ways to speed up your plowing efforts to impress your bosses and friends? Sure, some may say you can plow 4 squares at time; but that is only for your own farm. What about neighbors, friends and those at the market that constantly shout “Need Fast Plowers!” Unfortunately the developers at Farm Town have not met the players demands by adding plowing by 4 squares at a time for anyone other than yourself. We have come up with the best possible solution to plow others at top speed!
Yes, it’s even better than using the full screen icon and zooming to optimal ranges.
Check out this solution. Start in the top corner of ones farm and work to the right three spaces. Then jump down one square and move back up 2 etc. By following this method your avatar should rarely move. This saves you a massive amount of walk time. We all know that our avatars are a little troubled when moving from field to field at times. This method will make sure he rarely moves at all. It really doesn’t matter what direction you go in as long as you start from the top and work down and only harvest in rows of three. You can even harvest with the 4 being under the 1 if that is easier for you. Go all the way to the very bottom and then quickly run back up to the top in order to start your next three rows. You should find this method very helpful and speedy. Your bosses will be so highly impressed that they will recommend you to other farmers. Having references in Farm Town will prove important if you ever want to see harvesting pineapples in this life!
Queue it and Quit it!
Here is the next fix for your addiction. Queue it up. Remember the preference setting that states “Wait for each plow/plant”? You need to make sure this setting is unchecked before you truly get the full effects of this. You can queue up the plowing or planting. This means you can plant or plow as much as you want; although, your avatar will not be at the most recent square right away you have just put that square next in line. When all of your squares show a progress bar the job is done. Click the Save icon in the top right corner (wait for success message) and then leave. There is no need to hang out and watch your avatar actually get them done. Waiting wastes precious valuable time as you could be harvesting or even plowing other fields. Try this on your own personal farm.. Queue up some fields and head to the market – then head back to your farm, wallah all is done.
Hope this all makes sense. We really don’t have to much time to blog this crap with perfect spelling and grammar so we apologize. Well maybe we do have the time; we just don’t have the smarts. Please carry on.
Avoid Getting Kicked Out!
You know you are playing Farm Town when you get the infamous save error messages, disconnect message or screen not refreshing. Yeah, these messages usually arrive at the most inopportune time. These tips will help you be on your marry little way without having to constantly reload the game.
Error Saving Data. Error XLINK. Click the green tick to reload game.
Possibly the worst message to get when you are clicking away on your farm is the “Error Saving Data. Error XLINK. Click the green tick to reload game.” Reloading the game is the worst thing you could do! Why?..because when you reload the game you are automatically booted back to your farm. This doesn’t seem like such thing does it? Oh heck yes it is a bad thing. Maybe you just landed the harvest or plow job of your life and next thing you know you get this message, SUCK! Oh what to do? What to do?
I’ll tell you what NOT to do. DO NOT DO AS THE MESSAGE SAYS! DO NOT CLICK THE GREEN TICK! Instead go up to the top right corner of you game and find the icon that looks like a disk. Click that until you get the happy little message that says that you have successfully saved changes. Sometimes it wont save right away and sometimes it takes going offline then back online again in order to save. This may take a few more seconds to do but it saves you from having to redo your work or lose out on that dream job of yours!
Entered Offline Mode

Another message that farmers get frustrated with is the message that states: “Entered Offline Mode. Reconnect. Click the red ‘Connect’ button on the mini-toolbar at the top. This is a good thing, do it! This will not reload the game it will simply connect you back to the “Mainframe” server. The caution here to read what you click. Sometimes after reconnecting to the “Mainframe” server you will get the Error Saving Data message and you may accidentally click the green tick on the wrong message which will reload your game. Ugh… Don’t do that! Read what you are clicking you will save a lot of time and a lot of work.
You have been idle for more than 10 minutes…

The nice thing on this message is that you can simply click the green tick and magically be reconnected to where you left off. No real warnings for this message. Although most farmers I have talked to are not idle long enough to get this message. They are slaving away to their virtual farms every minute of every hour. We though we would just post this message here so other farmers would actually know that you could be disconnected for idle time. Yep, that’s right.
Ever seen a lovely screen like this from time to time? Never fear the refresh man is here! This happens when little farmers harvest a field zoomed in to just the right spot. It gets hard to see around the farmland on what to plow or harvest next. Unfortunately if you are at someone other farm we have yet to find a way to fix it. You can simply zoom out or in a little until it no longer happens on each harvest but the existing ones will not go away until you leave the farm and come back to it.
We know this information will help you along your farming way. It will save you from the dreaded disconnects and reloads that happen throughout your long farming days. Keeping those enormous neighbor plow or harvest jobs will keep you above the competition!
First Timers – General Setup
Well… right now we are truly wondering why people are still visiting this site. It was posted as a joke and has turned into something SERIOUS! We told others of our intentions of taking the site down the next day as it was all fun and games. To our frightening surprise an outrage of angry virtual farmers grabbed their torches, pitchforks and hoes and brought fear into our lives. The result — the continuation of this Farm Town Blog madness.
Our visitors are possibly even wondering… “Why would they even waste their time posting here when they could be harvesting?… or even PLOWING!?!?!” At any rate we are both still here as publishers and audience. We are ready to publish the heavenly information that helps us to succeed in our farm lives. We almost feel obligated to post to it now as if this is our calling in life: to post Farm Town Tip & Trick information to the world. Thank you for coming back but at the same time…blast you for coming back! Get ready World! Here is the beginning of Farm Town insanity.
Ready?
We all know that help interface in the game lacks a massive amount of help. So, the first thing we want to cover is the in-game settings. Here are the settings to get your level 1 farmer to far beyond in no time. What’s that Jim-Bob? You don’t know where the settings are? Good grief brother you are new to this game! In the game click the little wrench in the top right corner and you will be empowered with crucial options that will make your life even easier.
Here are the settings that will help you get started.
- Show Trees (Uncheck)
- Show Flowers (Uncheck)
- Freeze Animals (Check)
- Remove Spaces Between Fields (Check)
- Smooth Graphics (Uncheck)
- Follow Avatar While Walking (Uncheck)
- Wait for Each Plow/Plant (Uncheck)
Oh man! Now you want us to explain this nonsense? Can’t you just take our word for it? OK let’s see if we can waste more of our lives explaining why these these settings are important.
Show Trees (Uncheck)
I have chosen to uncheck ”Show Trees” because I do not want to see them, fair? Ok, Ok, point being they are big, they are in the way and you are not going to be buying trees in the first 25 levels anyway. Sure, they may add a minimal amount of experience and make your farm “pretty”; but thats not the point. They cover 1-2 squares of visibility. This is annoying when you are trying to click your life away when planting. DO NOT PLANT TREES they are a waste of prime real estate that your seeds could be renting. Following this setting makes life easier when helping your neighbors plant/plow their farms as well.
Show Flowers (Uncheck)
See “Show Trees” Reason Above! I am not typing out all the same reasons again nor do I wish to copy and paste them.
Freeze Animals (Check)
Why is this important? Some of the same reasons exist from the two sections above but there are more. Yes, the animals are cute but man they can be annoying when you are trying to quickly plant/plow a section and they hop right in the way, slowing down your desired progression. Freeze time and you can work right around these varmints.
Remove Spaces Between Fields (Check)
This setting took Farmer B a few crops too many to figure out. Ever wonder why there is a required gap in your plowing? This setting is unchecked by default. By checking this your plowed fields will come closer together than ever before. Less spaces between fields means more profit, more experience and less wasted land. Also this enjoyable game is still in “beta” mode. A test mode, which means there are high amount of glitches. If someone has this setting unchecked and your setting is checked; while plowing you may send their field back to grass. Annoying for both farmers involved as no XP is given to you as the plower and the owner of the field needs to put the plowed field back in its place.
Smooth Graphics (Uncheck)
No one should care how the game looks at this stage becuase you should only be planting crops and you are not showing all the pretty stuff anyway. This should tend to look the same with or without this checked; however, having this unchecked may make things a little smoother and faster for you.
Follow Avatar While Walking (Uncheck)
Planting/Plowing goes much faster when your camera is zoomed in all the way. A following camera makes things difficult if the camera is constantly following your farmer as he walks from square to square to get the job done. Turn this setting off to stop the camera from following your Farmer. This is so you can quickly reach all areas of the farm without having to wait for your hillbilly booty to walk from one end of the farm to the other.
Wait for Each Plow/Plant (Uncheck)
Why on this Farm Green Earth would anyone want to wait for Plow/Plant to occur before you can get on with your life? Uncheck this so you can queue up all the squares you can click without having to wait for your farmer to finish them one-by-one. In fact more often time than not you can leave the farm once everything is queue with out without waiting for the plant or plow to finish. When you go back to the farm everything will be magically finished for you.
Wow that was a lot of nonsense. This sounds too good to be true but following these settings will make the farm life cruise along nice and smooth.
Be on the lookout tomorrow for more information. As the days go on the tips and tricks will slowly advance and become more helpful, so check back tomorrow. You know… between the time you don’t feel like harvesting/plowing other farmers crops and the time your crops are still growing.
Welcome to Farm Town Blog
Yep, you guessed it a blog about Facebooks hit game, Farm Town!
My sister recently got me playing this dumb little game on Facebook called ‘Farm Town’. You may have heard of others like Farmville, etc but it is not the same. Friend after friend would invite me to play this game and it seemed like I could not click the ignore button fast enough.
One boring day Farmer Amie instant messaged me and asked if I played the game. Of course my response may have seemed quite harsh. “NO!!!” was my reply, although I immediately dropped all will power to avoid this game and logged into Facebook to add the app. My first instinct was to delete my Facebook account immediately but the Farm Town curiosity was to overpowering. Soon the addiction was brutally strong and I found myself calculating the best ways to level as fast as possible. I also caught my self thinking of best ways to make the most amount of money and creating strategies to be the best farmer I could be.
What happened to me? I used to be so bored and now I have this Sims like farm to build which can easily flush my boredom down my 8 hour toilet.
Not only that…my failures at life now can be forgotten about as I build my farm, level my character and fill my bank full of sun colored coins far beyond what I could ever achieve in real life. It feels good, doesn’t it?
Within the first twenty-four hours of playing this game I went from level 1-27. Which far surpassed my friends levels who have been playing for months. This, my friends is why we created this blog! We are the experts, no not in real life…. just in Farm Town.
So, welcome! If you have found yourself addicted to this wonderfully simple and irritating game; you may find this blog helpful while enduring your farming chores. Not only will we provide tips and tricks to helping you become a better farmer; we will criticize, scrutinize and complain about this game as often as our time permits all in comic fashion.
Special thanks:
Farmer Amie for motivation to play the game and create a blog.
Farmer Amie’s friends who really want to know how to be better farmers.
Facebook! Duh!
The Developers of Farm Town app!
